On April 7, members of the Danville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority celebrated World Health Day. World Health Day is an annual observance to raise awareness about global health issues and highlights the importance of individual health and well-being. One of the main health concerns is footwear for the homeless and socks are the No. 1 clothing need. The members of Danville Alumnae organized a campaign to purchase new, fresh socks that will protect the feet from getting cold, wet, developing blisters or worse. The campaign was called Sock-It-2-Me DAC. 80 pairs of socks were donated to the Tri-County Community Action Agency in South Boston. TCCAA is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of individuals and families who are experiencing the effects of poverty in Halifax, Mecklenburg and Charlotte counties.
