Halifax County Supervisor Ronnie Duffey presents Elizabeth Overton with a resolution recognizing Overton’s 100th birthday Wednesday that was approved by Halifax County Board of Supervisors when they met Monday evening. Overton, who was born in Lynch Kentucky, turned 100 on Sunday. As stated in the resolution, she has had a successful career, having worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, taught home economics at Virginia Intermont College, taught math at Halifax County High School, and taught special education at Sinai Elementary School, and is an outstanding cook and seamstress and is especially knowledgeable in horticulture.
