Thank you all to those who had entries in the parade. It was beautiful. Like I said, I was going to do some that will be good for Christmas. I hope you will enjoy.

FRANKLIN FRUIT CAKE

1 lb. butter

2 cups sugar

4 cups flour

1 t baking powder

1/4 t salt

4 cups nuts chopped coarse

1/2 pound candied cherries

1/2 pound pineapple candies

1 t vanilla

1 t almond

Cream sugar and butter. Add beaten eggs and three cups flour sifted with baking powder and salt. Mix remaining one cup flour with nuts and chopped candies. Stir into batter. Add vanilla and almonds. Pour in greased, floured tube pan or three loaf pans 9x5x3 inches. Place pan with water on oven rack below cake pan. Bake tube cake at 250 degrees for three hours. Bake loaves at 250 degrees for two hours. Let cool in pan.

BLACK WALNUT CAKE

2 sticks margarine

1/4 cup Crisco

3 cups sugar

3 cups flour

5 eggs

1 cup milk

1 t walnut flavoring or almond 

1/2 cup black walnuts 

Cream together margarine and Crisco. Add sugar, egg and remaining mixings together. Add milk, flour, almond extract and walnuts. Pour in greased floured pan and put in cold oven. Bake at 350 degrees for one and a half hours.
