If you missed the Nutcracker, you missed a good program. We have so many very talented youth in our hometown. This week I’m going to do some I hope you will like.

2 cups flour

1/2 cup chopped walnuts

2 T sugar

1 T melted butter

2 t baking powder

1 1/2 cups sweet milk

Pinch of salt

Mix together well. Put in loaf pan and let stand one hour. Then bake for one hour in 250 degree oven.

If you like fruit cake this is a good one to fix.

2 cups brown sugar

2/3 cup shortening

2 cups water

2 cups raisins

2 cup currants

2 t cinnamon

1 t cloves

1 t nutmeg

1/2 t allspice

1 t salt

Stir this mixture together and cook for three minutes. Cool, then add 4 cups flour, 2 t soda, 2 t baking powder, 1 1/2 cups nuts (your choice). Bake in two well-greased loaf pans for 45 minutes. This will keep a long time. Most people wrap in wax paper and put in a tin.

I hope you all have a great week, and like I always say, live, laugh and love and remember to spend time with family and friends. God bless you all.
