The weather is getting warmer. I love the summer, but things may be a little different this year. Spend time at home a lot — might or might not be good. Buy enjoy what ever you do.

 

SONORAN STYLE HOT DOGS

¼ cup mayonnaise

½ cup chopped cilantro

1 T hot sauce

1 lime zest

Salt and pepper to taste

Whisk this together and set aside.

8 hot dogs

8 slices bacon

Wrap bacon around hot dogs. Secure with toothpicks. Put in refrigerator for 30 minutes. Then grill over medium heat for 12-15 minutes.

Split eight hoagie rolls, spread with butter and toast just a little.

Spread with can of refried beans on each roll, then add bacon wrapped hot dog. Can top with red onion, plum tomatoes, picked jalapenos and dripped mayo on top, maybe more hot sauce.

 

HAPPY HOUR SNACK

Foil packet for spiced nuts. Tear off an 18-inch piece foil.

2 cups nuts, unsalted roasted mixed

2 T Olive oil

1 Rosemary sprig

2 wide strips lemon zest

2 crushed garlic cloves

1 t Kosher salt

Pinch red pepper flakes

Put all of above on foil. Fold ends together and seal. 

Grill over medium heat about 8 to 10 minutes, turning once. When done, open carefully. Sprinkle with salt.
