Well, it’s 2021. I hope you all are having great new year so far.

Pray we all have a much better one this year.

This week I’m going to do one a friend sent me. I went to school with her. She was Janice Puckett. She is a Cloud now and she lives in Colorado. This is one her mom made at Christmas time.

WALNUT APPLESAUCE CAKE

1 c sugar

1 t cinnamon

½ t cloves

¼ t nutmeg

½ c shortening

1 egg

1 c apple sauce

1 t vanilla

2 c flour

3 t baking powder

½ t salt

¾ c raisins

1 c chopped walnuts

Mix sugar and spices. Gradually add to shortening. Cream thoroughly. Add eggs and beat well. Stir in apple sauce and vanilla. Add flour, baking powder, salt. Beat until smooth. Fold in raisins and nuts. Pour in greased, floured tube pan and place walnut halves on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 60 minutes.

SAUSAGE CREAM CHEESE CRESCENTS

16 oz. sausage, hot or mild, cooked and crumbled

8 oz. cream cheese, softened

2 cans crescent rolls

1 c sharp shredded cheddar cheese

Mix sausage, cream cheese and shredded cheese together. Separate rolls into triangles. Cut each one in half lengthwise. Scoop a helping tablespoon onto each roll. Roll up. Bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Note: don’t forget to share. These are so good.
