A Halifax man was indicted Thursday on four felony drug and firearm counts relating to a search of a residence on Wild Turkey Run in March.

James A. Gooch, 53, of Halifax was indicted on one felony count for distribution of cocaine, a Schedule I/II controlled substance; one felony count for possessing a firearm while distributing cocaine; one felony count for possessing or transporting a firearm as a convicted violent felon; and one felony count for possession or transportation of ammunition as a convicted felon.

Gooch also was indicted Thursday on one misdemeanor count for possession of marijuana and one misdemeanor count for possession of buprenorphine and naloxone, both Schedule III controlled substances.

The alleged offenses occurred March 7, according to court records.

Officers with the Halifax/South Boston Regional Narcotics and Gang Task Force arrested Gooch after serving a search warrant at a residence on Wild Turkey Run in Halifax on March 7, according to Sheriff Fred S. Clark.

The search yielded the seizure of six firearms, ammunition, U.S. currency, suspected cocaine and suspected marijuana, according to Clark.

Other indictments

• Deaundray Ontario Martin, 26, of South Boston was indicted Thursday on five felony counts for drug and firearms violations, including one for possessing or attempting to possess a firearm while attempting to distribute or distribute a Schedule I/II controlled substance.

Martin also was indicted on one felony count for possessing a Schedule I/II controlled substance; one felony count for distributing or possessing with the intent to distribute a Schedule I/II controlled substance; one felony count for transporting a firearm after having been convicted of a felony within the past 10 years; and one felony count for possessing or transporting ammunition as a convicted felon.

Martin also was indicted Thursday on misdemeanor counts for possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana, carrying a concealed weapon and driving on a suspended license.

The alleged offenses occurred on Jan. 31, according to court records.

• Travis Tremayne Kirby, 36, of South Boston was indicted Thursday on five felonies, including distribution of cocaine; distribution of more than one ounce but not more than five pounds of marijuana; possession of a firearm while distributing cocaine; possessing or transporting a firearm as a convicted felon; and possessing or transporting ammunition as a convicted felon.

Kirby also was indicted on one misdemeanor count for driving on a suspended operator’s license.

The alleged offenses occurred Feb. 9, according to court records.

• Zachary Eugene Edwards, 31, of Concord was indicted Thursday on one felony count for possession of hydrocodone and acetaminophen, both Schedule II controlled substances; and one felony count of distribution of 10 grams or more of methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance.

Edwards also was indicted on one misdemeanor count for a second offense of driving on a revoked license within 10 years and one misdemeanor count for possessing marijuana.

The alleged offenses occurred on Jan. 24, according to court records.

• Michael Jackson, 43, of Halifax was indicted Thursday on one felony count of possessing or transporting a pistol as a convicted felon.

The alleged offense occurred June 13, according to court records.

• Earl Lamont Jordan, 48, of South Boston was indicted Thursday on one felony charge for attempting to pass or passing a forged bill, note or coin and one misdemeanor count for obtaining money under false pretenses.

The alleged offenses occurred June 1, according to court records.

• Keyshawn Jamal Johnson, 23, of South Boston was indicted Thursday on one felony count of distributing more than one-half ounce but less than five pounds of marijuana.

The alleged offense occurred Aug. 20, according to court records.

• Franklin Wayne Adams, 45, of South Boston was indicted Thursday on two felony charges for possession of a Schedule I/II controlled substance and one misdemeanor charge for possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance.

The alleged offenses occurred Dec. 13, according to court records.

• Ryan Roger Barnes, 20, of Clover was indicted Thursday on one felony charge for breaking and entering DJ’s Tires and one misdemeanor count for petty larceny from DJ’s Tires.

The alleged offenses occurred March 11, according to court records.

• Cornelius Davis, 33, of South Boston was indicted Thursday on one felony count for shoplifting.

The alleged offense occurred Nov. 15, according to court records.

• Amy Kern Edmonds, 42, of Wylliesburg was indicted Thursday on one felony count for possession of heroin, a Schedule I/II controlled substance.

The alleged offense occurred June 27, 2018, according to court records.

• Laura Leigh Moody 30, of Halifax was indicted Thursday on one felony count of possessing cocaine.

The alleged offense occurred Sept. 8, according to court records.

• Amber Lynn Newman, 28, of Bassett was indicted Thursday on one felony count for possession of methamphetamine residue and one felony count for possession of methamphetamine powder.

The alleged offenses occurred June 6, 2018, according to court records.

• Raashaun De’Shay Newman, 30, of Halifax was indicted on Thursday on one felony count for shoplifting after having previously been convicted on two or more other occasions of a similar offense, and he also was indicted on one felony count for obtaining money under false pretenses.

The alleged offenses occurred on Feb. 21, according to court records.

• Quentin Eugene Tucker, 34, of South Boston was indicted Thursday on one felony count of possessing cocaine; one felony count for possessing or transporting a firearm as a convicted felon; and one felony count for distributing or possessing with intent to distribute more than one-half ounce but not more than five pounds of marijuana.

The alleged offenses occurred on Dec. 28, according to court records.

• Abenes Maurice Yancey, 49, of Alton was indicted Thursday on one felony count for possessing cocaine; one felony count for possessing a firearm while simultaneously possessing a Schedule II controlled substance; one felony count for possessing or transporting a firearm after being convicted of a violent felony; and one felony count for possessing or transporting a firearm as a convicted felon.
