A 25-year-old Keeling woman pleaded guilty to a charge for possession of a controlled substance Thursday in Halifax County Circuit Court.
Samantha Michelle Terry pleaded guilty to possession of heroin and/or fentanyl after reaching a plea agreement with the commonwealth.
Pursuant to the plea agreement, the commonwealth moved to nol pros a charge against Terry for possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (fentanyl), and the commonwealth also continued disposition of a misdemeanor charge against Terry for unauthorized possession of drug paraphernalia.
Sentencing for Terry was continued to a future court term.
The charges for which Terry was tried occurred on Nov. 10, 2018, and she was arrested on the charges on April 25, according to court records.

• Justin Cain Hamlett, 24, of Nathalie had his previously suspended jail term revoked on Thursday for a probation violation.
Judge Kimberley S. White re-suspended all but eight months in jail, conditioned on a period of good behavior as previously imposed, and she ordered Hamlett to be placed on probation for two years upon his release.
• Kelius S. Pettaway, 25, of Conetoe, South Carolina, had a show cause charge against him for a probation violation dismissed on Thursday upon payment in full of court costs.
• Rachel Jean Davis, 33, of Virgilina pleaded guilty Thursday to a charge for distribution of a controlled substance, after reaching a plea agreement with the commonwealth.
White ordered Davis to be released on bond prior to sentencing, set for a date in the November court term.
• Alexander Howard Payne, 29, of South Boston had one year and six months of his previously suspended jail term revoked Thursday for a probation violation.
White ordered the same conditions of probation remain in effect for Payne as before.
