A 31-year-old South Boston man, Darren Lee Satterfield was indicted Thursday by a Halifax County Circuit Court grand jury on one felony count of malicious wounding and one felony count of grand larceny.

An indictment is issued by a grand jury against an individual who is charged with a crime. Before the individual may be convicted, the charge must be proved at trial beyond a reasonable doubt. The purpose of an indictment is to inform an accused individual of the charge against him or her so that the person will be able to prepare a defense.

The grand jury indicted Satterfield on one count of the malicious wounding of David Ammons and one felony count of grand larceny of a cell phone belonging to Ammons.

The alleged offenses occurred April 2, according to court records.

• Tariq Lamar Sydnor, 21, of Scottsburg was indicted Thursday on one felony count of breaking and entering the dwelling of Stanley Crews, and one misdemeanor count of petty larceny.

• Tommy Ray Shotwell, 46, of South Boston was indicted Thursday on one felony count of shoplifting from Tractor Supply.

• LaMitchell Damar Allen, 22, of Nathalie was indicted Thursday on felony counts for possessing a firearm after having been convicted of a felony, and transporting a firearm after having been convicted of a violent felony.

The alleged offenses occurred on May 5, according to court records.

• Samantha Michelle Terry, 25, of Keeling was indicted Thursday on one felony count of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance (heroin), one felony count of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (fentanyl) and one misdemeanor count of possession of controlled paraphernalia.

The alleged offenses occurred on Nov. 10, according to court records.

• Patricia Powell Bagby, 61, of Buffalo Junction, was indicted Thursday on one felony count of shoplifting from Wal-Mart.

• Tyler Ray Rankin, 37, of Nathalie was indicted Thursday on one felony count of possession of a Schedule I/II controlled substance (methadone) and one misdemeanor count of shoplifting from Wal-Mart.

• Tiffany Amber Boyter, 18, of Concord, was indicted Thursday on one felony count of grand larceny.

• Jennifer Lynn Francisco, 37, of Nathalie was indicted Thursday on one felony count of shoplifting from Wal-Mart.

• Deaundray Ontario Martin, 26, of South Boston was indicted Thursday on one felony count of possession of a Schedule I/II controlled substance.

• Melody Michell Dunn, 29, of Halifax was indicted Thursday on one felony count of credit card theft and one misdemeanor count of credit card fraud.

• Christopher Daniel Anderson, 41, of Scottsburg was indicted Thursday on one felony count of possessing a firearm after having been convicted of a violent felony.

• Erik Coles, 27, of Alton was indicted Thursday on one felony count of possession of a Schedule I/II controlled substance (methamphetamine).

• Earl Junior Dabbs, 48, of Buffalo Junction was indicted Thursday on one felony count of possession of a Schedule I/II controlled substance (cocaine) and one misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana.

• Calvin Bernard Wyche Jr., 34, of South Boston was indicted Thursday on six charges relating to a police chase in May, according to court records.

The grand jury indicted Wyche on one felony count of disregarding a signal from law enforcement to stop and exceeding the maximum speed limit by 20 MPH.

The grand jury also indicted Wyche on misdemeanor charges for a second offense of DWI, refusing a blood or breath test, driving on a suspended license, reckless driving, and impeding law enforcement in the performance of their duty.

• Donna Mullins Wright, 51, of Virgilina was indicted Thursday on one felony count of failing to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in injury to a person, and misdemeanor counts of DWI, refusing a blood or breath test, and operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license.

• Scotland Brewer Ford, 31, of South Boston was indicted Thursday on one felony count of possessing with intent to distribute more than one-half ounce but not more than five pounds of marijuana.

• Damien Scott Hartlove, 21, of Virginia Beach was indicted Thursday on one felony count of eluding law enforcement.
