Two people suffered gunshot wounds after an altercation Thursday evening in the Virgilina area, the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reports.

It was shortly after 7:30 p.m. when someone called 911 about someone being shot at a home on Hogan Road in Virgilina, Sheriff Fred S. Clark said in a news release.

Officers from the sheriff’s office and the Virginia State Police responded there to find a person with a gunshot wound.

An investigation revealed a fight occurred between two people “who were familiar with each other at the Hogan Road residence,” Clark said in the news release. While two people were injured, one left the scene and was found at a home on Buckshoal Road.

Rescue personnel provided emergency aid and transported both to an undisclosed medial facility for treatment. The release did not state the condition of the two people or provide any other details.

A firearm was discovered at the scene, and Clark believes this was an isolated incident.
