A 33-year-old Nathalie man faces a felony charge of possession of a weapon, a felony charge of being a felon in possession and a felony charge of maliciously shooting into an occupied building, according to Halifax County Sheriff’s Office records.

James Eric Layne of Sandy Ridge Road was charged with the alleged offenses that occurred Aug. 31, 2019, and deputy C. S. Hudson served the warrants Monday.

• David Scott Lester, 42, of Aspen Street, Danville faces a felony charge of advance pay, no construction and a felony charge of obtaining money under false pretense.

The alleged offenses occurred Oct. 1, and another agency served the warrants Saturday.

• Stephanie Michelle Snead, 30, of Sweeney Trail, Halifax faces a felony probation violation charge.

The alleged offense occurred Dec. 6, 2019, and another agency served the warrant Nov. 25.

• Melissa Leanne Pool Newton, 46, of Huell Matthews Highway, South Boston faces two misdemeanor charges of assault and battery of a family member.

The alleged offenses occurred Thursday, and deputy J. S. Garber served the warrants Friday.

• Walter Lee Brown, 70, of Evans Trail, Alton faces a civil charge of possession of marijuana and three misdemeanor charges of violating a stalking protective order.

The alleged offenses occurred Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and Garber served the warrants Saturday.

• Alan Walter Mays, 31, of Slayton Road, Sutherlin faces a felony charge of obtaining money under false pretense, a felony charge of stolen property with intent to sell and a felony charge of receiving stolen goods.

The alleged offenses occurred May 22, and another agency served the warrants Monday.

• Samuel Raleigh Williamson, 58, of Dan River Church Road, South Boston faces a misdemeanor charge of failure to appear.

The alleged offense occurred Oct. 30, and deputy D. L. Clark served the warrant Monday.

• Joshua Tyler Moore, 19, of Chalmers Street, South Boston faces a misdemeanor probation violation charge.

The alleged offense occurred Aug. 16, 2019, and deputy T. W. Bush served the warrant Monday.

A 35-year-old Scottsburg woman faces six charges of embezzlement, according to South Boston Police Department records.

Nancy Elizabeth Shelton of Dryburg Road was charged with the alleged offenses, and Cpl. A. Jackson served the warrants Saturday.

Shelton was released on summons.

• Connie Crute Gilliland, 63, of Washington Avenue, South Boston faces a charge of trespassing.

Officer S. Kenney and officer B. Jones served the warrants Saturday.

Gilliland was released on summons.

• Tiffani Jones, 23, of South Boston faces a charge of driving with a suspended license.

Jones was released on summons.
