A 48-year-old Halifax County man is wanted on a charge of second-degree murder after a 38-year-old man was shot and killed at about 10:50 p.m. Friday on Harmony Road.

Halifax County Sheriff Fred S. Clark said an arrest warrant has been issued for Jeffrey Franklin Davis of Bold Springs Road.

This comes after police responded to Harmony Road on Friday night for a reported shooting. Upon arrival, Halifax County Sheriff’s Office deputies found a man lying in the driveway with a gunshot wound, said Clark.

Authorities did not release the identification of the victim.

Cluster Springs Fire and Rescue and Halifax County Rescue Squad personnel provided aide to the victim, however he succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased was transported to the medical examiner’s office in Roanoke.

Police are not sure what caliber weapon was used as no weapon has been found.

Clark also said Halifax County investigators assisted.
