A 19-year-old Alton man, Skylar Aspen Wade, faces charges of distribution of a Schedule I/II controlled substance, possessing a gun while possessing a controlled substance and a first offense charge of possession of marijuana, after being arrested on Wednesday.
According to Halifax County Sheriff Fred S. Clark, deputy J. A. Short arrested Wade of Paradise Road on Wednesday charging him with the three offenses, two of them felonies.
According to the indictments handed down by a Halifax County Grand Jury on Sept. 5, Wade is charged with possessing with intent to distribute psilocyn (mushrooms), a Schedule I controlled substance.
Wade also is charged with possessing a firearm while possessing with intent to distribute psilocyn, in addition to possession of marijuana.
The alleged offenses occurred Nov. 28, 2018, according to court records.
Wade is being held without bond in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Halifax, Clark said.
