A 46-year-old Scottsburg man, Kevin Lee Coleman, of Sydnor Trail, faces a charge of strangle, choke another and two assault and battery charges, according to South Boston Police Department records.

Officer J. George served the warrants on Saturday, and Coleman was held on no bond.

• Van Pleasant Jr., 70, of Reverend Coleman Road, Clover faces a charge of violating a provision of a protective order.

Officer J. DeSantis served the warrant on Saturday. Pleasant was held on a $5,000 secured bond.

• Charles Jason Hazelwood, 44, of Daniels Trail, Halifax faces a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery, according to Halifax County Sheriff’s Office records.

The alleged offense occurred on Friday, and deputy T.B. Sargent served the warrant on Saturday.

• Jimmie Lynn Hughes, 57, of Clays Mill Road, Halifax faces a misdemeanor charge of being drunk in public.

The alleged offense occurred on Sunday, and deputy C.D. Wilborne served the warrant the same day.

• Carlo Latrell Younger, 39, of Leda Road, Nathalie faces a misdemeanor charge of trespassing and a misdemeanor charge of violating a provision of a protective order.

The alleged offenses occurred on Sunday, and deputy J.L. Franco served the warrants the same day.

• Melissa Leanne Pool Newton, 45, of Huell Matthews Highway, South Boston faces two misdemeanor charges of violating a provision of a protective order.

The alleged offenses occurred on Sunday, and deputy J.S. Garber served the warrants on Monday.

• Clifton Louis Chappell Jr., 26, of McKinney St., South Boston faces a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery of a family member.

The alleged offense occurred on Monday, and deputy H.O. Weddle served the warrant the same day.

• Willie Edward Howell Jr., 48, of Crescent Dr., South Boston faces a misdemeanor charge of violating a provision of a protective order.

The alleged offense occurred on Friday, and another agency served the warrant the same day.

• A 34-year-old South Boston man, Jamie Lester Smith, faces two drug charges of possession of a controlled substance, according to South Boston Police Department records.

Sgt. M. Bowen served the warrant on Thursday, and Smith was held on no bond.

• Benjamin Travis Hammock, 23, of Sandy Ridge Road, Nathalie faces a charge of larceny for shoplifting.

Officer W.K. Bane served the warrant on Thursday, and Hammock was released on summons.
