Halifax/South Boston Regional Narcotics and Gang Task Force officers arrested 53-year-old James Arthur Gooch after serving a search warrant on Thursday, March 7, at a Wild Turkey Run residence in Halifax that yielded the seizure of six firearms, ammunition, U. S. currency, suspected cocaine and suspected marijuana.

A 53-year-old Halifax man faces charges of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and additional charges are pending following a search of a residence on Wild Turkey Run in Halifax last week.

According to Sheriff Fred S. Clark, officers with the Halifax/South Boston Regional Narcotics and Gang Task Force arrested James Arthur Gooch after serving a search warrant at the Halifax residence that yielded the seizure of six firearms, ammunition, U. S. currency, suspected cocaine and suspected marijuana.

Gooch is being held at Blue Ridge Regional Jail without bond.

The Halifax/South Boston Regional Narcotic and Gang Task Force is comprised of members of the Virginia State Police, South Boston Police Department and the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

The Virginia State Police and deputies from the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the search that took place on Thursday, March 7.
