A 36-year-old South Boston man faces a felony larceny charge for shoplifting merchandise valued at over $500, according to Halifax County Sheriff’s Office records.

Cornelius Davis of Ferry Street was charged with the alleged offense that occurred Nov. 15, and Deputy J. A. Short served the warrant Wednesday.

• Robert Sylvester Ewell, 50, of Ewell Lane, Vernon Hill faces a misdemeanor charge of being drunk in public.

The alleged offense occurred Tuesday, and Deputy T. B. Sargent served the warrant the same day.

Binh Dao, 50, of Waddell Lane, South Boston faces misdemeanor charges of assault and battery and being drunk in public.

The alleged offenses occurred Tuesday, and Deputy J. S. Garber served the warrants the same day.

• Brandon Jashea Wells, 22, of Harris Drive, South Boston faces misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and carrying a concealed weapon.

The alleged offenses occurred April 4, and another agency served the warrants Tuesday.

• Mary Hope Layne, 39, of Cody Road, Nathalie faces a misdemeanor charge of contempt of court.

The alleged offense occurred April 15, and Sgt. J. P. Adams served the warrant Wednesday.

• Dinisio Augusta Martin, 39, of Halifax Road, Halifax faces a pair of larceny charges for shoplifting.

Cpl. A. Whitmore served the warrants on Tuesday, and Martin was released on $1,500 unsecured bonds on each charge.
