Authorities with the South Boston Police Department are investigating vandalism at a local church and theft from vehicles in two separate incidents that occurred earlier this week.

According to Randy Redd, patrol lieutenant with the South Boston Police Department, officers were called to Main Street United Methodist Church on North Main Street shortly after 8 a.m. Monday and found a brick had been thrown into a glass on the rear door of the church.

Police estimate damage to the door at $600.

“There were no items taken, and it appears that entry was not made into the church,” said Redd.

Officer M. Bowen is investigating that crime.

Officers also were dispatched to the 500 block of Easley Street Monday for the theft of items from several vehicles.

Speakers and various other items of audio equipment were reported as stolen, said Redd.

He said these thefts took place between Friday and Monday.

Officer Dennis Blanks is investigating that incident.

Anyone having information regarding either of these crimes is asked to contact the South Boston Police Department at 434-575-4273.
