South Boston Police Department authorities are searching for 47-year-old Quincy Eugene Moore of South Boston who is facing charges of second-degree murder and fleeing the scene of an accident involving injury or death after police report a South Boston man was hit and killed by a vehicle.
According to South Boston Patrol Lt. Randy Redd, Halifax E-911 received a call Saturday at 11:20 p.m. for a person lying by the side of the street that had possibly been struck by a motor vehicle.
South Boston police officers arrived on the scene and found 48-year-old Donald Jeffreys of South Boston dead with injuries that appeared to be consistent with being struck by a motor vehicle, said Redd.
Detective T. Bratton obtained warrants for Moore.
The whereabouts of Quincy Moore are currently unknown, according to Redd.
South Boston officials are asking anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Moore or information regarding this crime to call the South Boston Police Department at 434-575-7273 or The Halifax County Crime Line at 434-476-8445.
Persons having information regarding this crime may be eligible for a reward, said Redd.
