The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 46-year-old suspect last week on charges related to the theft of gasoline and catalytic converters.
On July 22, deputies responded to a home on Boyd’s Ferry Trail for a report of larceny of gas, Halifax County Sheriff Fred S. Clark said in a news release.
While investigating, police developed Alan Loftis, of Boyd’s Ferry Trail, as suspect.
Loftis was arrested July 22 and transported to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Halifax.
He was first charged with charged with petit larceny of gasoline and later two counts of grand larceny were added.
Police suspect he was involved in the theft of two catalytic converters. Those thefts occurred in February and March, according to online records.
Deputy T. W. Crute served the warrants.
The investigation still ongoing and additional charges are pending, Clark said.
A court date is set in September. The suspect is being held with no bond.
