A 47-year-old South Boston man turned himself in to police Monday morning following a death that police believe resulted from a hit and run.

Quincy Eugene Moore of Yates Street in South Boston now faces charges of hit and run and second-degree murder, according to South Boston Patrol Lt. Randy Redd.

South Boston Police obtained warrants for Moore after someone found 48-year-old Donald Jeffreys lying dead on the side of the street with injuries police believe are consistent with being struck by a vehicle.

Redd said E-911 received a call about the incident Saturday at 11:20 p.m.

Detective T. Bratton obtained warrants for Moore that were served when Moore turned himself in without incident.

He is being held without bond.

Redd said he could not provide any further details on the ongoing investigation, but he did note that the vehicle was in police possesion.
