An 18-year-old Nathalie man, Matthew Howard Tuck of L. P. Bailey Memorial Highway, faces charges of discharging a firearm in a dwelling and discharging a firearm in a moving vehicle after reports of shots fired at a residence on Shepherd Street.
Tuck also faces misdemeanor charges of carrying a concealed weapon, resisting arrest/obstruction of justice by force and illegally possessing alcohol under the age of 21, according to Halifax County Sheriff’s Office records. Cpl. S. Britton served those warrants Wednesday.
According to Lt. Randy Redd, with the South Boston Police Department, the Halifax County E911 Center received numerous calls about shots fired on Shepherd Street Tuesday shortly after 11 p.m.
Officers from the police department arrived and found that residence in the 1300 block of Shepherd Street had been struck by numerous gunshots, said Redd.
Officers also located numerous cartridge cases at the scene as well, he added.
Witnesses reported that someone in a grey Nissan Versa had fired shots into the residence.
Shortly after the shooting was called in, deputies from the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office located a vehicle matching the description and made a traffic stop on it.
Deputies recovered a handgun during the traffic stop as well as other evidence that linked the driver, Tuck, to the shooting.
Officer F. A. Powell and Officer R. McGuire served the warrants for the two charges of discharging a weapon.
Tuck was held in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Halifax without bond.
