The Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee, comprised of Halifax County High School students, decided to show their appreciation to the teachers and staff at the high school during the COVID-19 pandemic with a holiday gift.
Members of the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee drew names Friday morning for first, second and third place gift recipients. Recipients were Jo Ann Wilmouth, a paraprofessional at Halifax County High School; Adam Reeves, a teacher at the high school; and Alicia Small, a custodian at the high school.
1st Sgt. Gregory Scott, faculty advisor for the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee and JROTC Army instructor at Halifax County High School, said the purpose of the gifts was to say “thank you” to the teachers for their commitment to their students’ education during the pandemic by offering virtual instruction and preparing instructional packets for the students to pick up, and to the support staff for their contribution to the students’ educational experience at the high school.
