LIFE’s annual Back-to-School Supply Drive went off without a hitch Sunday afternoon when hundreds of children and their parents showed up at Edmunds Park for a day of fun.
Organizer Taquan Logan said he prepared more than 200 bags of supplies, and wasn’t left with many.
Elementary, middle school and high school students all received supplies, and several received special surprises from Hibbett Sports.
Hibbett Sports donated sports balls and drawstring bags. Those attending the supply drive were given a raffle, and several lucky winners went home with the donated goods.
Volunteers served free pizza and cotton candy, while the ice cream man also stopped in for a visit.
Bounce houses also were a hit with the children at the event who also were able to check out a police cruiser brought by South Boston Police Department and a fire engine brought by South Boston Volunteer Fire Department.
Logan said he would like to thank all of the volunteers, firefighters, police officers and parents for supporting the event.
This back to school supply drive has grown yearly since 2016, and there’s no sign of it slowing down.
