Parents and other adults raising teenagers who are interested in learning the tools to become more alert in the teen’s behaviors and influences are invited to a program titled Hidden in Plain Sight.

Hidden in Plain Sight will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday at Halifax County High School and again at 6 p.m. Thursday at South Hill Elementary School.

Attendees will have an opportunity to walk through an interactive exhibit designed to resemble a teenager’s bedroom followed by an educational presentation by the Culpeper County Police Department.

The first half hour of the program, participants “snoop” through the room to find items and objects that could indicate “risky behavior.”

Risky behaviors covered are drug use, underage drinking, eating disorders, sexual behaviors and more.

Afterward, each item in the room is explained and information on current statistics, trends, and resources for help are included.

This event is free and open to adults, caregivers, teachers, coaches, etc. of teens in the Halifax County local community and surroundings areas.

The Culpeper Police Department and the Southside Wellness Coalition sponsor the event.
