The Halifax County Middle School FFA Chapter attended the 93rd Virginia State FFA Convention at Virginia Tech on June 17-20 with advisors Bridgett Fallen and Scott Turner.
The HCMS FFA chapter lived up to this year’s theme, “What if?” by setting goals and having no regrets during the school year and at convention.
A total of 11 members studied hard and represented the chapter well during the contests. The small animals team scored well with one member, Brayden Martin, receiving a blue ribbon, and the other member, Siyonna Hankins-Dixon, receiving a red ribbon.
MeJazia Howerton and Katelynn Snead of the food and fiber team received yellow ribbons, and their teammate, Brooke Womack, received a red ribbon.
The quiz bowl team also did well with members Evelyn Farmer and Samantha Burns receiving blue ribbons and Peyton Irby and Angel Wilborn receiving red ribbons.
William Anderson of the agriculture mechanics team received a blue ribbon, and his teammate, Landon Morgan, received a red ribbon.
Besides competing in contests, the members and advisors attended sessions, listened to motivational speakers, met other FFA members from around the state and participated in team building activities.
