Old building comes alive: New private school set to open in historic C.H. Friend this fall

This classroom inside C.H. Friend School is in the process of being updated and prepared for students’ use in the fall. School principal Dana Jones said the updated classrooms in the historic school building will feature smartboards, wireless broadband, and state-of-the-art security monitoring.

For the first time since 2008, students will walk through the doors of the historic C.H. Friend School in the fall.

A new private, Christian school is planning to open in the South Boston building, which last functioned as a public elementary school.

The staff of C.H. Friend School is busy putting the final touches on renovations to the building in preparation for students’ arrival in September. School staff are working with the building’s owner Jack Dunavant on the renovations.
