On the first day of school, Scottsburg Elementary students came with glitter, animals, heroic characters or colorful book bags filled with school supplies and lunch boxes. Buses and cars filled the parking lot with a line backed nearly to James D. Hagood Highway waiting a turn to enter the campus. The young students approached the school with people waving and greeting, some moms crying and children with smiling faces taking pictures, on the first day of class.  Teachers were waiting for their students by the classroom door with open arms giving high fives and hugs welcoming them to class.
