Sydnor Jennings Elementary School recently held a fifth grade drive-in promotion day. Families were encouraged to decorate their vehicles in support of their graduates. Cortney Dawson was awarded a trophy for having the highest grade point average. Lenzy Crews was recognized as the top Accelerated Reader. Librarian Donna Moorefield walked the red runway honoring her years of service and received wishes for a happy upcoming retirement. Each fifth grade student who attended received a tomato plant to grow and enjoy over the summer. The plants and racks were provided by a grant with Julian Thurston of the Virginia Family Nutrition Program office and the Community of Farmers in Halifax County.
