A 39-year-old Nathalie man is being held in Blue Ridge Regional Jail with no bond after being charged with robbery of the Short Stop II on Love Shop Road in Halifax on Sunday evening.
According to Capt. M. A. Womack of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office, Clinton Edward Tucker of Beale’s Lane faces the charge following the robbery that occurred at 5 p.m. when a suspect entered the store, produced a knife and demanded the clerk give him cash.
A total of $1,200 was taken during the robbery, Womack said.
The clerk, who was not hurt in the robbery, alerted dispatch immediately and was able to give authorities a vehicle license number, description of the vehicle and a description of the suspect, Womack said.
A BOL (be on the lookout) was issued, and shortly afterward South Boston Police officer B. R. McGuire stopped a 2001 Chevrolet matching the description given at the corner of Briggs Street and Suggs Street.
Womack said the clerk was called to where authorities had stopped the Chevrolet and positively identified the driver as the robbery suspect, and the $1,200 taken in the robbery was recovered.
Officer C. D. Wilborne placed Tucker in custody and transported him to Blue Ridge Regional Jail.
