Extensive damage was caused to a garage, multiple tractors and other belongings in a fire that was reported around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at 1198 Crystal Hill Road.

According to Liberty Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Randy Fisher, owner Bill Crews came home to find his shop fully engulfed in flames.

Members of Liberty Volunteer Fire Department were on the scene within a matter of minutes to fight the blaze with assistance from members of Triangle Volunteer Fire Department, North Halifax Volunteer Fire Department, Halifax Volunteer Fire Department, Clover Volunteer Fire Department and Scottsburg Volunteer Fire Department, Fisher said.

Emergency Services Coordinator Chad Loftis also assisted at the scene.

The assistant fire chief said firemen used roughly 9,000 gallons of water to extinguish the fire and remained on the scene for roughly two hours.

He estimated the value of the damage to the garage at $15,000 and damage to the contents of the garage at $25,000.

The cause of the fire is unknown, and no one was injured, said Fisher.
