Two Perdue brothers — one a teenager and the other age 22 — were airlifted to Duke Medical Center from the scene of a single-vehicle wreck that occurred Saturday shortly before 1 p.m. on River Road in the Paces community.

A witness at the scene said Jason Perdue and William Perdue had just left their house at 1377 River Road in a Corvette that appeared to have crashed into trees on the right side of the road.

EMS and fire crews had to extricate the Perdue brothers from the car before transporting them to the Duke helicopters, both of which landed at the Turbeville ball field.

EMS personnel from Oak Level Volunteer Fire Department were assisted at the scene by personnel from Turbeville Volunteer Fire Department and Halifax County Rescue Squad.

Virginia State Police are investigating the wreck, but attempts to reach authorities Sunday afternoon were unsuccessful.

No further information on the wreck was available as of Sunday afternoon.
