Southside Community Services Board continued in its commitment to serve the counties of Halifax, Brunswick and Mecklenburg by hosting its third crisis intervention training class. This nationally recognized week-long class was attended by 20 law enforcement officers from local police departments, Virginia State police, county sheriff’s and E-911 offices. Instructors from various collaborative mental health professionals and law enforcement agencies covered topics relative to crisis intervention.  This training is crucial in getting the right help to individuals with behavioral health needs and where appropriate, kept out of the prison system.  All three counties have participated in these courses with a total of 47 graduates to date.
