An early Sunday morning fire caused extensive damage to Dinis Brothers Pizza & Restaurant.
Firefighters with the South Boston Fire Department responded to the blaze at 901 Wilborn Ave. at 5:34 a.m. and remained on the scene until 8:14 a.m.
South Boston Fire Chief Steve Phillips estimated the fire caused $100,000 in property damage to the structure valued at an estimated $250,000.
Gregoris and Constance Dinis are the property owners.
When the South Boston Fire Department arrived on the scene, Phillips said fire was coming out of the roof area through the kitchen exhaust duct.
“There is a lot of heat and smoke damage throughout the whole building including the dining room area,” Phillips said. “It started in the kitchen area. Nobody was in the business at the time the fire started.”
The South Boston Fire Department responded to the Dinis Brothers fire with three trucks and 14 people. Other fire departments responding to the call were the Halifax Volunteer Fire Department, responding with three trucks and eight people, and the Cluster Springs Volunteer Fire Department, responding with one truck and two people.
The fire is still under investigation.
