A 60-year-old Halifax woman was transported to the hospital with injuries suffered in a two-vehicle wreck that happened shortly after 2 p.m. Monday in front of her home located at 4178 L.P. Bailey Memorial Highway.

Trooper K. R. Martin reported the wreck occurred when 60-year-old Treva C. Hunt, who was driving north in a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban, was struck in the rear by a 2015 Dodge work truck driven by 40-year-old Joseph Overby of Virgilina.

The wreck occurred as Hunt was making a right hand turn into her driveway.

The force of the impact caused the Suburban to run off the right side of the road and strike a tree.

Hunt, who had to be removed from the vehicle, was transported to the hospital by a county rescue unit, according to Martin’s report.

Overby suffered minor injuries in the wreck but was not transported to the hospital, according to Martin, who charged Overby with following too close.

Martin declared the Suburban a total loss and estimated $5,000 damage to the Dodge work truck.

Neither driver was injured in a two-vehicle wreck that occurred at 2:31 p.m. Sunday on Bill Tuck Highway, three miles east of Huell Matthews Highway.

According to an accident report filed by Virginia State Trooper D. W. Lacks, 55-year-old Melinda Hill of Falls Church was driving a 2014 Volvo S-60 when she struck in the rear a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by 65-year-old Elbert J. Kaywood of South Boston.

Lacks estimated damage to the Volvo at $1,500 and damage to the Chevrolet at $1,000.
