Sentara Hospice Services will host a special Mother’s Day Memorial event from 11 a.m. to noon May 11 at Edmunds Park.
The free event is open to anyone in the community.
Participants will write letters or notes to their loved one on biodegradable paper. Each paper will be attached to a floral wreath.
A local ballet academy will perform and place a wreath by the pond for viewing.
A Sentara Hospice chaplain will bless the wreath.
Following, the ballerinas will encourage all children who are present to join them for a joyful “circle of life” dance.
There also will be a special performance by a young ballerina who will dance a devotional piece, “One More Moment,” in honor of her grandmother.
The wreath will be located at the park as a temporary memorial.
Light refreshments will be served.
Anyone wanting to attend should RSVP to 434-517-3339, option 1.
Edmunds Park is located at 3164 Dan River Church Road in South Boston.
