Presenting sponsor Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital and Halifax County Chamber of Commerce were elated Wednesday that all 1,500 tickets had sold out for Friday’s 39th Annual Virginia Cantaloupe Festival.
And the weather is shaping up to make this a great festival year, according to Mitzi McCormick, president of the Halifax County Chamber of Commerce.
Halifax County’s prime summer event from 5 to 10 p.m. on the front lawn at Berry Hill Resort and Conference Center will showcase Megan Doss, Kameron Marlowe full band and Jim Quick and Coastline.
Attendees will be able to partake in a variety of foods this year with the addition of food trucks to the event.
“Berry Hill has hosted us for the last few years offering shade, but as the festival has grown, so have the lines. We regret that our patrons stood in long lines for much of the festival last year and wanted to address that concern and get them served in a timely fashion going forward,” said Nick Long, committee member.
Corporate sponsor Danville Distributing will be providing beverages for guests with something for everyone to enjoy at Halifax County’s premier summer gathering.
D&D Skins also will ensure everyone gets the local roasted corn and Halifax County cantaloupes at their tent during the event.
“We couldn’t be happier with the changes we have made and are looking forward to attendees enjoying a new and improved stage, a variety of foods and three great acts to entertain them throughout the night,” McCormick added.
