A 16-year-old male juvenile from South Boston faces a charge of reckless driving failure to maintain proper control following a two-vehicle wreck that occurred Saturday at 8:35 p.m. on Virgilina Road a half of a mile east of Huell Matthews Highway.
According to an accident report filed by Virginia State Trooper R. L. Compton, the juvenile was riving a 2008 Toyota Tacoma when he ran off the right side of the road, got back in the road, crossed the centerline and overcorrected. His vehicle then ran off the right side of the road and stuck trees.
Another vehicle, a 2012 Honda CRV driven by 59-year-old Robin Vestal of Lynchburg was traveling in the oncoming lane and was struck by debris, according to Compton’s report.
The juvenile was not injured, but Vestal was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Compton estimated damage to the Toyota at $15,000 and damage to the Honda at $6,000.
A 37-year-old Ringgold man faces a charge of reckless driving failure to maintain proper control following a single-vehicle wreck that occurred Friday at 4:05 p.m. on Route 58 100 feet west of Humps Trail.
According to a report filed by Virginia State Trooper J. A. Williamson, Leeander Legette Jr. was traveling in a 2016 Kia four-door when he ran off the right side of the road and struck a ditch and multiple trees.
Legette was not injured.
Williamson estimated damage to the Kia at $10,000.
