A Liberty house fire at 3121 Crystal Hill Road around 5:30 p.m. Monday was contained to the kitchen, with firefighters saving the rest of the house from major damage.

According to Liberty Volunteer Fire Chief Jeff Brown, the fire is believed to have started near the stove and is suspected to be electrical in nature, but the cause is still under investigation.

When firefighters arrived on the scene of the single-story home, the four occupants of the home, two adults and two children, had safely evacuated the home uninjured, Brown said.

Nine Liberty Volunteer Fire Department firefighters responded on two trucks, and six Triangle Volunteer Fire Department firefighters responded with two trucks.

Brown estimated the damage to the home at $5,000.

The fire chief did not have the names of the homeowner or the occupants.
