The reopening plan for the Halifax County-South Boston Public Library System will start with Phase 1 on June 8.

During Phase 1, library book drops will be opened for people to return materials.

Phase 2 will start on June 11. During Phase 2, customers may call or email the library to request materials. They also may place their own requests through the library’s online catalog.

Library staff will pull the available materials, check them out to the customer, and place them in a bag with the customer’s name on it. The bag will then be placed on a cart for the customer to pick up. At the South Boston library, the cart will be on the library’s porch. While at the Halifax library, the cart will be outside the library’s front doors in good weather and inside the library’s lobby in inclement weather.

Customers will not be allowed inside the libraries during Phase 2. Services such as copying, printing, faxing and the use of public computers will not be available. The library’s wireless Internet connections will still be accessible in the parking lots. Services, resources and programs will continue to be offered through the library’s website and social media platforms.

Curbside service will be offered at the Halifax library on Mondays from 1 p.m. - 8 p.m., and Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 11 a. m. - 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
