A 38-year-old Martinsville woman was transported to the hospital with minor injuries following a single-vehicle wreck that occurred at 11:15 a.m. Monday on U.S. 360, three miles east of Highway 58.

According to an accident report filed by Virginia State Trooper H. J. Buzzetta, Amanda C. Estes was driving a 2002 Toyota Sequoia when she ran off the right side of the road, crossed the ditch and struck a tree.

Buzzetta charged Estes with reckless driving and estimated damage to the Toyota at $5,500.

Both drivers were charged in a two-vehicle wreck that occurred Monday at 11:15 a.m. on State Route 49 at the intersection of 10th Street.

According to Buzzetta, 33-year-old Michael L. Williams of Oxford, North Carolina, was driving a 2002 Honda Accord when he attempted to make a u-turn. As he was making a u-turn, a 2016 Toyota Camry driven by 47-year-old Curtis L. Hughes of Virgilina attempted to pass the Honda, and the two collided.

Williams faces a charge of improper turning, and Hughes was charged with failure to keep right at the intersection.

Buzzetta estimated damage to the Honda at $300 and damage to the Toyota at $1,500.
