Thousands of individuals from Clarksville, Halifax County and surrounding areas enjoyed the 44th annual Virginia Lake Festival, also known as Lakefest, Saturday by putting their boats into Buggs Island Lake, taking a ride on a helicopter or by walking up and down the streets of downtown Clarksville to grab a bite to eat, shop a little or see family and friends. The event kicked off Friday with welcoming ceremonies and carnival rides followed by a hot air balloon show on Saturday at 7 a.m. More than 180 vendors showed up with arts and crafts and more than 20 food and beverage vendors provided all the selections a family could want. Saturday ended with a performance by the Konnection Band and a fireworks display lighting up the night sky.
