Virginia State Police identified the man who died in a single-vehicle accident that occurred at about 9:10 p.m. Saturday on Beulah Road, one-tenth of a mile west of Sawmill Trail.
According to an accident report filed by Virginia State Trooper J. A. Wilmouth, Jason Smith, 32, of Java, was traveling west on Beulah Road in his 2000 Chevrolet pickup truck when he ran off the left side of the road and overturned, ejecting the driver.
Smith was not wearing his seat belt.
Wilmouth estimated damage to the Chevrolet at $8,000.
According to an obituary, a funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Halifax Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, two hours prior to the service at Halifax Baptist Church and other times at the home of his father, 1144 Beulah Road, Nathalie.
