The South Boston Police Department has announced the kickoff of its Santa Cops program for 2021. Santa Cops began in 2019 with a mission to help make Christmas brighter for those less fortunate in the community. Support received from local businesses and the generosity from the community has made the program a success.

For those wishing to help, the police department is now accepting donations of new toys, clothing, money or gift cards at the South Boston Police Department located at 640 Hamilton Blvd. in South Boston during business hours until Christmas.

Additionally, the department will host a toy drive at the police department from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26.

On Dec. 3 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the South Boston Police Department will host a “Stuff the Cruiser” event to benefit the Santa Cops program at Food Lion in Riverdale.

Those wishing to donate can stop by the Riverdale Food Lion located at 1020 Bill Tuck Highway on Dec. 3 and stuff the police cruiser with new toys, clothing, money or gift cards to benefit local families in need.
