Donations from Fry, Jordan and Wilson Insurance Agency and First Horizon South Boston Financial Center make it possible for school libraries to receive copies of the book, “New Bridge on Oak Level Road,” which is done by retired principal, Michael R. Wiborne.

The book documents the construction of the new bridge on Oak Level Road from beginning to end through the use of photographs and narratives.

Students will see the construction process of the two abutments on each side of Boelte Creek, see the arrival of the concrete bridge beams measuring seventy-eight feet in length and weighing 99,000 pounds each, view the use of a crane lifting the concrete bridge beams into place onto the abutments, and read of the final phases of the bridge construction which includes preparing the roadway for asphalt surfacing, the placement of bridge rails onto the bridge and the guard rails at each end of the structure.
