A 69-year-old Scottsburg man faces a charge of failure to yield the right of way following a two-vehicle crash that occurred Wednesday, Nov. 17, in the 300 block of Mountain Road at 8:24 p.m. when he was driving a Halifax Volunteer Fire Department truck.

According to Corinne Geller, public relations director with Virginia State Police, Dean Wagstaff was traveling west on Mountain Road in a Ford F-360 truck belonging to the fire department, with its lights and siren activated. The Ford crossed the centerline to the eastbound travel lane and struck a westbound 2008 Nissan Altima driven by 48-year-old Leslie Bohanan of Halifax that was in the process of making a left turn onto Cedar Lane. The two vehicles collided in the eastbound travel lane.

Bohanan suffered minor injuries.

Wagstaff was not injured in the crash. He was wearing a seatbelt. The Ford was responding to an emergency call.

The crash remains under investigation.
