Skills4Life will launch hourly youth programs for ages 5 to 17 from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday during 2GoodHEALTH4Life located at the New Zion Fellowship Hall Recreation Center, 7107 Chatham Road in Nathalie.
Skills4Life programs enhance survival skills, such as gardening, knitting, canning, soap making, churning butter and more. There is a $2 fee per child.
Other Skill4Life program offerings include wilderness survival, medical alternatives, self-defense and CPR.
As a longtime resident of Cluster Springs who grew up in northern Halifax County, Darlene Easley Link spent nearly six years preparing herself for this business. “My professional experience in Early Childhood Education combined with graduate studies in human services/wellness helped shape the concept to offer such program content formatted as summer camps, after school tutoring, and homeschool services,” Link said.
“Skills4Life presents an outlet for parents in the Nathalie community to expose their children to life skills within a family friendly environment,” Juanita Johnson, president of the Rose and Garden Club, said.
Other activities scheduled for Saturday include a flea market, microgreen gardening demonstration, health information, food vendors, outdoor concert performance, adult reader workshop, local history workshop and the semi-final round of the senior spelling bee.
