Nevaeh Hodges

Nevaeh Hodges, a rising senior at Halifax County High School who organized a peaceful Black Lives Matter protest June 2 in South Boston’s Constitution Square, accepts a certificate from Halifax County Board of Supervisors when they met Monday evening. Chairman Hubert Pannell and ED-8 supervisor William Bryant Claiborne presented the award. Prior to presenting the award, ED-1 supervisor Ricky Short asked to see the certificate that reads that it was given to her “for her commitment to organizing and accomplishing a peaceful and meaningful demonstration.” Short said “peaceful or not” the board should remain neutral.
