Warming centers will be open the next few days during the daytime hours for Halifax County residents who have lost power as a result of the winter storms, said Steve Dishman, emergency services coordinator for Halifax County.

The following fire departments will operate as warming centers: Turbeville, Oak Level, Midway, Cluster Springs, Clover and Triangle. Triangle Volunteer Fire Department will be open as a warming center Thursday from 2 until 8 p.m., Friday from 2 until 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon. Operating hours of warming centers at the other fire department locations will vary.

A limited supply of self-heating meals will be distributed at the warming centers, as well.

In advance of heading out to a warming center, county residents are advised to call the non-emergency dispatch phone line at 434-476-3334 to check hours of operation.
