In neighboring city of Danville, transformation is in the works
Demolition of the Dan River Inc. finishing building in the Schoolfield area of Danville is in the process to make way for the construction of the new Caesars Resort and Casino. The demolition and removal of this building is expected to be completed by the end of April. The work is being done by Demolition & Asbestos Removal Inc. in Greensboro, North Carolina. Plans are for the resort casino to open in Danville in late 2023. On Tuesday, the wrecking ball crew was bringing down a section of the Dan River Inc. finishing building.

After being refurbished, these “Three Sisters” smokestacks, which are still standing on the property in Schoolfield, will remain in place as part of the architectural design of the casino and resort.
