Both lanes of Edmunds Boulevard and Blue Ridge Lane in the town of Halifax will be closed to through traffic for approximately two weeks beginning Monday in order to facilitate the first deliveries of structural steel for the courthouse construction project.

In order to off-load the deliveries and to erect the steel structure, it will be necessary to locate the crane near the intersection of Edmunds Boulevard and Blue Ridge Lane, according to County Administrator Scott Simpson.

The crane set-up and appropriate safety perimeters will require both roads to be closed to through traffic for a duration of approximately two weeks for the first phase of the work.

Appropriate signage, barricades, and detour messaging will be in place to direct access to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail facility, Halifax Town Hall, sheriff’s office, and the solid waste collection area at the end of Blue Ridge Lane.

Access to the Lisa Francisco law office, Commonwealth’s Attorney office, Owens Insurance, and Cunningham Law office can be made from Mountain Road.
